Accurately determining the piezoelectric coefficient of nanowires
New Impact case study
Following completion of the NanoWires | EMPIR Project project, Electrosciences Ltd worked with partners aixACCT Systems GmbH, in development of a commercial piezoelectric measurement tool, the ESPY33, that we had initially prototyped in a UK-funded (Innovate UK) project.
The instrument, which had previously been calibrated for force and current, applies a known mechanical force to a sample, the resultant current or charge measured, and the piezoelectric charge coefficient is then calculated.
In partnership with our development and manufacturing partners (aixACCT Systems GmbH) our technology is now available for all to use!
An impact story written by the EURAMET – The European Association of National Metrology Institutes team has highlighted our innovation on their website and we thought that you might be interested to read a little more about its development and how it’s been used by the energy harvesting community.
